Possessing the Kingdom Through Love

I was recently struck by The Message (copyright 2002 Eugene Peterson) version of John 14:23, where Jesus states, “Because a loveless world is a sightless world.” If we have not received the gift of the very nature of God, who IS love, we will not be able to discern or navigate these times, much less possess the Kingdom (Daniel 7:18 – see previous post: Possessing the Kingdom article, either under ‘blog’ on this website or under ‘notes’ on The Arts Expressed Facebook page). At it’s very foundation, possessing the Kingdom involves receiving and intimately knowing the Father’s love. When we receive, experience, and come to know the love of the Father through Christ Jesus intimately, it becomes increasingly difficult to misrepresent Him (John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (NAS copyright 1995). When we truly know the love of the Father, we come to understand that everything about Him, His gift of Christ Jesus, His plans and His purposes, are always about His love for us, and about His goodness. God is love. God is good. God is kind. All the time.

The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament, yet the Old Testament was all about a revelation of the jealous love the Father has for His children, and the impossibility of human beings being in relationship with a holy God in their own strength. The entire Old Testament points to the amazing plan of salvation and sanctification through the sacrificial gift and death of His Son in the New Testament – the New Covenant. Jesus IS the only way. Additionally, a loving Father, will do whatever it takes to keep His children away from the path of destruction, because everything He does derives from Him loving us perfectly, and from His desires for us always being good. When we truly get that this life He has offered us is about being carriers of His love, His joy, His peace, His patience, His kindness, His goodness, His gentleness and His self-control, and surrender it all to His leading, we can then be trusted with the favor to partner with Him in possessing the Kingdom. Our part requires us to believe it, receive it, surrender to it, and cooperate with the His Spirit’s leading each and every day..

We have to believe that God is love and loves us with an infinite love. We have to trust that He has good plans and purposes for us. We desire Him and His plan enough to seek continual relationship with Him. Why wouldn’t we want to spend time with someone who loves us and wants only the best for us? We’ve got to get ahold of the truth that all evil and all bad that happens on this Earth come from Satan’s agenda to lie, kill, steal and destroy mankind – the very ones the Lord has created to be in intimate relationship with Himself. We’ve also got to get ahold of our lives not being about living for ourselves, but rather, about us being vessels He can trust to represent His love and all of the other good facets of His nature to a world desperately searching and lost, needing Good News to manifest in their lives, that He might draw all to Himself. When this becomes heart revelation and not just head knowledge, ideology, theology or doctrine, then He releases His anointed favor to partner with Him in possessing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth into the very atmospheres He has placed us. Possessing the Kingdom of Heaven begins with His love: for us, in us, and extended to all others. To possess the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth begins by taking every negative encounter with other people, and releasing His supernatural love and blessing into that circumstance in thought, word, and deed. We are God’s idea of being a gift of love to Himself and to others. That is the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven.

It’s time to begin possessing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, wherever He has placed us. Ask Him to reveal the depths, the heights, and the widths of His supernatural, unconditional love for you and for others. Take hold of the what He shows you and begin to release it into your home, your school, your workplace, your community, your nation and into all the nations who are experiencing unrest. When we receive and give His love, we can trust that our world as we know it will change. It’s all good, in the midst of times that increasingly focus on all that’s not good!

There’s a 1965 popular song written by Hal David and first recorded by Jackie DeShannon, called, “What The World Needs Now.” The truth of this song is needed more today than when it was first written. It cries out for God Himself to be released on the Earth because God is love. God released His love on the Earth through His Son, Jesus. When we receive Jesus, when we receive His Spirit, when we believe His Word as Truth, we are then positioned to become His vessels of love on the Earth. The love of the Father, through the love of the Son, flowing through us by His Spirit is the key to possessing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.

‘What The World Needs Now
copyright Hal David & Burt Bacharach 1965

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don’t need another mountain,
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross,
Enough to last till the end of time.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don’t need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen, Lord, if you want to know.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.

No, not just for some, oh, but just for everyone.’

God, the Father, loves everyone. He always has and He always will. God, the Son, loves everyone. He willing laid down His life for us. Even if we choose to refuse that love, He continues to love us. He desires for us to love Him in return, and to be His love throughout our our assigned slot in history on this Earth. Those who have chosen to seek the King and His Kingdom will explore this amazing love for all of eternity, which begins here on Earth from the moment of salvation. This agape love is only made available to us through Jesus, who offered the ultimate demonstration of love for all of mankind. The world is waiting to see and know this kind of love. He wants to use us in Christ to be a demonstration of that love in word and action. Possess (take hold of/seize) the love of Christ. Possess His Kingdom love on Earth as it is in Heaven!
